ENDOMETRIOSIS ASSOCIATED HEALTH PROBLEMS

 

The objective of treatment is to control symptoms promptly and, where surgery is indicated, to excise all visible endometriosis.

 

  1. Stages I and II

 

  1. Laparoscopic surgery with postoperative danazol or GnRH
  2. Conservative surgery by laparotomy with preoperative danazol or GnRH
  3. Excision of all endometriosis, hysterectomy with or without bilat­eral salpingo-oophorectomy (SO)

 

 

  1. Stage III: moderate disease

 

  1. Laparoscopic surgery with postoperative danazol bit GnRH
  2. Conservative surgery with preoperative danazol or GnRH
  3. Excision of all endometriosis, hysterectomy with or without bilateral
  4. Salpingo-oophorectomy with preoperative danazol or GnRH

 

  1. Stage IV: severe and extensive disease

 

  1. Conservative surgery with preoperative danazol or GnRH
  2. Excision of all endometriosis, hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo- oophorectomy with postoperative estrogen or estrogen and proges­terone hormone replacement (postoperative danazol or GnRH selectively)
